Denkyira Krobo (C/R), Dec 31, GNA - Dr. Kojo Essiem Mensah-Abrampa, an educationist, has been installed Sanaahene of Denkyira Traditional Area under the stool name Nana Dr. Essiem Kwaakontan III.
Mr. Mensah-Abrampa, who is also the Deputy Head of Region for the United Nations
Capital Development Fund of the Southern and Eastern Africa Region, succeeded his uncle Nana Kwaakontan II who died last year.
The ceremony was observed at Jukwa Krobo amidst pomp and pageantry during which Nana Kwaakontan III was carried in a palanquin through the principal streets of the Krobo Township.
He later swore an oath of allegiance to a representative of Odeefo Boamponsem III, Denkyirahene.
He thanked the chiefs and people of Denkyira Traditional Area for the honour done him and promised to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in him.
The occasion was used to launch an Education Fund for the town and an amount of
GHc5, 000 was realized during an appeal for funds.
The ceremony was attended by people from all walks of life including visitors from South Africa.
