PNC says Limann's family must be cautious demanding honour

The People's National Convention is asking the family of its founder to tread cautiously in making demands of the ruling government.

The family of the late Hilla Limann is accusing the ruling National Democratic Congress government of reneging on a promise it made to get the support of PNC to win the 2008 elections.

The family says the government has failed to provide financial support and to build a monument in his memory.

It has also criticized leaders of the PNC for not giving serious attention to the matter. But party Chairman Alhaji Ramadan tells Joy News their criticisms are misplaced.

Alhaji Ramadan said there is very little the party can do to get the government to honour promises the NDC made in the lead up to the presidential run-off in the 2008 elections.

That he said is because the party is in a weaker position since the NDC has attained the power they were looking for and for which reason they entered into the agreement with the PNC.

In his view, since currently there is nothing the PNC can do for the NDC, getting the governing party to honour the terms of the unwritten agreement will be a daunting task.
