Founder of Ashesi University wins an international prize

Accra, Nov. 17, GNA- Mr. Patrick Awuah founder of the Accra based Ashesi University was on Tuesday adjudged the winner of the second Annual John P. McNulty Award.

He received a cash prize of $100,000.
A statement issued by the Aspen Institute and Anne Welsh McNulty- New York, identified Mr Awuah as an extraordinary young man making creative, effective and lasting contribution to his community.

It said the prize was meant to expand educational facilities at Ashesi University and enable it to create a new sense of focus on ethics and personal empowerment.

Mr Awuah founded the Ashesi University in 2002 when he returned from the United States of America.

The university currently offers a four year undergraduate courses in business technology and leadership.

It noted that the award is an annual affair given usually to an Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN).

AGLN is a worldwide net work community of entrepreneurial business, government and civil society leaders committed to value based leadership.

The Aspen Institute has two fold missions - to foster valued based leadership encouraging individuals to reflect on the ideals and ideas that define a good society.

It also provides a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues.
