The Akrofuom Senior High Technical School, one of the community schools in the Ashanti Region, launched a 7-year development plan aimed at raising funds to provide some facilities for the school.

These include a school bus, a 200-bed boys' hostel, a 15-unit classroom block and a science laboratory.

Others are a new administration block, block of flats for staff, completion of water supply system and a power supply system.

Some 954.45 Ghana cedis was realized at the official launch of the plan with the Member of Parliament (M.P) for the area, Kwabena Appiah Pinkrah, contributing 200 Ghana cedis.

Mr Pinkrah said the development of the school was his priority and that he would continue to commit greater percentage of his MP's fund to support the growth of the school.

He said efforts being made to improve conditions in the school would come to nothing if the students failed to be disciplined and also keep to their books.

Mr. Peter Amponsah, the Headmaster of the school, said the 18-year old school continued to be a most deprived one and that the time had come for all stakeholders, especially the Akrofuom community, to help raise the level of development of the school.

He however expressed appreciation to some citizens and non-citizens of the area who had taken the initiative to improve conditions in the school.
