Benco Donates Cash To Amidatu

Chief Benson (left), Amidatu and Mr. Safo CHIEF BENSON Akoli, Managing Director of Benco Hospitex Limited, dealers in hospital equipment, last Friday presented a cheque for GH¢500 to a young Ghanaian athlete, Amidatu Salifu Ghana of AVE MARIA School in Accra.

The presentation ceremony took place at the AVE MARIA School at Dansoman in Accra, just 20 minutes after Amidatu had covered a distance of 20 kilometres in one hour 6 minutes. 

She started the race from the Ghanaian Times area to the Obetsebi Lamptey round about towards the Mortuary road to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and then to Zongo Junction.

She continued to Russia, and moved to Dansoman round about, ending up at AVE MARIA School.

The event tagged, 'Benco Hospitex Peace Race' started at 7.00 am and was attended by Michael Safo Antwi, Proprietor of AVE MARIA School, Benson Akoli and Alhaji Ghana, Amidatu's father.

Chief Benson who referred to Amidatu as “Ghana's Greater tomorrow”, said he would hold discussions with the Proprietor of AVE MARIA School on how to organize annual inter-house races, and promised to donate a trophy and GH¢100 to the best student every year in each class to motivate them to learn more.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE SPORTS Mr. Safo Antwi disclosed that the school would nurture the talents of children in his establishment.

“We need to bring out the talent in them, as we would like to see them running marathons for Ghana in the future,” Mr. Safo stressed.

He assured all that AVE MARIA School with a population of 1003 students- from Creche, Nursery, Kindergaten, Primary and J.S.S 1, 2 and 3- would start boarding by next year, so students would concentrate more on their studies.
