Roman Catholic Church to honour deserving members

The Archdiocese of the Catholic Church in Kumasi will, on November 01, honour some priests and the faithful at a ceremony at the Saint Peter's Minor Basilica Cathedral in Kumasi.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Thursday Monsignor Dominic Asiedu Fosu, Parish Priest of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at South-Suntreso in Kumasi, said the ceremony would see seven priests being invested to the ranks of Monsignor, 50 faithful receiving Papal blessing, 28 receiving Knight and Dame of Saint Gregory.

He said 10 others will also be honoured with Ecclesial Pontificates whilst 10 other people will also receive Bene Morente.

Monsignor Fosu mentioned that the awards followed a request made by the Most Reverend Osei Bonsu, Archbishop of the Kumasi Diocese to the Pope Benedict XVI to show appreciation to some members of the church for their dedication and commitment towards the development of the church.

He said the awards were based on hard work, faith, morale, lifestyle, spiritual development among others. Monsignor Fosu commended Archbishop Emeritus Kwasi Sarpong for his role and support which has led to this honour and said that would motivate other faithful in the country to continue with evangelization and the development of the church.
