The National Executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that it has confidence in Prof J.E.A Mills' ability to lead the party to victory in the December 2008 general election.A statement signed by Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC said the attention of the National Executive had been drawn to a statement made by the NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya Krobo, Mr Michael Teye Nyaunu about the health status of the flag bearer of the NDC.
“While the party respects Mr Nyaunu's rights to express his views, the party finds the statement so uninformed, distasteful and unethical,” the statement said.
It explained that the National Executive had accordingly invited Mr Nyaunu and the Minority Leadership in Parliament to a meeting at the party headquarters in Accra today at 10 a.m.
“The leadership of the party wishes to assure the general public particularly NDC members that the party remains solidly united and it is confident in Prof Mills' ability to lead the party to victory in the December 2008 general election,” the statement added.
