The government has imposed a curfew on Hamile Township and its surrounding communities in the Lambussie District of the Upper West Region, effective Tuesday, November 3.
The curfew, announced by the Ministry of the Interior, will run from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily.
The Minister for the Interior imposed the restriction on the advice of the National Security Council and through an Executive Instrument.
The government has also placed a total ban on residents carrying arms, ammunition and other offensive weapons in the affected areas.
Anyone found in possession of such weapons will be arrested and prosecuted.
The government has urged chiefs, opinion leaders, the youth and residents to remain calm and exercise restraint amid the challenges confronting the area.
It has also called on residents to use non-violent means to address their grievances and help maintain peace.
