The Supreme Court is expected to proceed with its regular court proceedings on Tuesday, November 3, despite the nationwide strike by judicial staff that has disrupted activities at several courts.

Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has directed that the apex court remains operational, notwithstanding the industrial action by the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG).

The directive was communicated in a notice issued by the Judicial Service on Monday, November 2, urging lawyers and litigants with scheduled cases to attend court.

“Pursuant to the direction of His Lordship, the Chief Justice, it is hereby notified for the information of all lawyers and parties to proceedings that the Supreme Court shall convene for its normal court business tomorrow, Tuesday, 3 November 2026,” the notice stated.

The decision comes amid widespread disruption to judicial operations following JUSAG's declaration of an indefinite strike over delays by the government in approving a review of salaries and allowances for Judicial Service staff.

The industrial action, which began on Monday, resulted in several courts suspending operations, with the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Accra Circuit Court and some District Courts among those affected.

Security personnel at some court premises were reportedly instructed not to open the gates, while red bands were tied to the entrances of certain facilities to indicate the ongoing strike.
