Asunafo North MCE denies saying creation of Ahafo Region is useless

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asunafo North, Hon. Joseph Akparibo, has rejected claims that he described the creation of the Ahafo Region as useless.

According to the MCE, an allegation attributed to the Ahafo Regional NPP Communications is false and does not represent his position on the creation or development of the region.

“I have never said that the creation of Ahafo Region is useless,” Hon. Akparibo stated emphatically.

He expressed concern over the attempt to attribute such a statement to him, insisting that he has never made any remarks intended to undermine, discredit or denigrate the Ahafo Region or the decision that led to its creation.

The MCE described the allegation as misleading and warned that it could create unnecessary tension and misunderstanding among residents and stakeholders in the region.

“I have never said that the creation of Ahafo Region is useless. The claim is false, and I want to make my position very clear,” he reiterated.

His response follows an allegation by the Ahafo Regional NPP Communications that he made comments seeking to denigrate the creation of the region.

Hon. Akparibo has challenged those behind the allegation to provide evidence of when and where he purportedly made the statement.

He said public officials, political actors and media communicators have a responsibility to ensure that statements attributed to individuals are accurate and properly placed in context before being circulated.

The MCE also cautioned against relying on unverified claims in political discourse, arguing that such allegations could deepen divisions and divert attention from development challenges facing the region.

He maintained that his position should be assessed based on his actual statements and actions rather than comments attributed to him without evidence.

Hon. Akparibo further urged the media and the public to verify information before sharing it, particularly when the information concerns sensitive political and regional issues.

He reaffirmed his commitment to his responsibilities as MCE for Asunafo North and said he would continue to focus on development and issues affecting residents of the municipality.

He therefore called on residents and other stakeholders to treat the allegation with caution and avoid allowing what he described as a false claim to create unnecessary division within the Ahafo Region.
