Ghana's presidents are not The Great

Ancient and medieval kings ordered their soldiers to fight for revenge, new territory, and to solve internal problems. Macedonian king Alexander the Great fought on the front lines side by side with his soldiers against Achaemenid king Dareios III; against an army which knew the territory much better than him and was larger in number. Yet, he was given the title „The Great“ in history for his bravery, readiness to stand by his men and put his life on the line, leading the Greeks to victory after victory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky were seen at the Russian-Ukraine front line. UK Prince Harry fought undercover in Afghanistan. Prime Minister of Israel was at the front line in Gaza to demonstrate solidarity with the soldiers of the IDF.

Ghana`s presidents of NPP and NDC, behind open microphones, declare the fight against galamsey, illegal small-scale mining. They order the military to combat the illegal miners who sometimes take to weapons to make their voice heard loud and clear. Most illegal miners, though, are not armed, and when arrested by soldiers, get handcuffed without further serious resistance. When they look and turn around to see who is backing them, all they see are comrades and officers. Returning to their camps after work is done, they turn on the radio, TV, or smartphones to hear Ghana`s presidents behind open microphones speaking to local, national and international media outlets about their determination to fight illegal mining, galamsey, on all fronts. While air conditioning makes the president's speech a comfortable presentation, the soldiers in the fields at the front line, covered in mud and dirt, clean in the heat of the African jungle, their guns ready for combat the following day.

The great French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, from the hills, oversaw the battlefield to give orders and motivate his soldiers important for them to know their Commander in Chief was immediately backing and motivating them by being behind them; touchable.

Ghana's presidents, as Commander in Chief, turn on the news in Flagstaff House to hear from the battleground and cry over lost heroes like Captain Mahama. At the open caskets, they walk around and comfort the widows.

Alexander the Great put his life on the line for his country and deserves the honorary title „The Great.
