ORC takes Business Registration Clinic to Tema to boost formalisation of enterprises

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC), in partnership with the Tema Metropolitan Assembly and UMB Bank, is set to hold a five-day Business Registration and Sensitisation Clinic in Tema to help entrepreneurs formalise their businesses and access free business advisory services.

The outreach programme, scheduled for August 10 to 14, 2026, will provide on-the-spot business registration, business renewals and guidance for business owners seeking to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

The clinic will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Activities will take place at the forecourt of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly at Community One from August 10 to 12 before moving to the UMB Bank forecourt at the Tema Industrial Hub on August 13 and 14.

According to the ORC, the exercise forms part of the Office's ongoing efforts to bring essential business registration services closer to entrepreneurs, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises.

"We want to make business registration simple and accessible for everyone. By bringing these services directly to Tema, we are giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to register or renew their businesses without the inconvenience of travelling to our offices," the office said.

It said formalising businesses enables entrepreneurs to operate within the law while improving their chances of accessing financing, government support programmes and new business opportunities.

"Business registration is more than a legal requirement. It gives businesses credibility and opens doors to growth opportunities. We encourage business owners, especially those operating informal enterprises, to take advantage of this clinic," the office noted.

The ORC advised prospective applicants to attend the clinic with their Ghana Card, Tax Identification Number (TIN), GPS address, residential and business addresses, and a proposed business name. Those seeking to renew existing businesses are required to present a copy of their business registration certificate.

The Office said the clinic also provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to receive free advisory services on business registration procedures, compliance obligations and other issues that support business growth.

According to the ORC, the outreach programme is expected to attract traders, artisans, start-ups and other business owners across Tema and surrounding communities who wish to formalise their operations or renew their business registrations.
