Regent of Dagbon donates medical items to Yendi Municipal Hospital

The Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya Naa Yakubu 11 has donated a substantial cache of medical items and consumables to the Yendi Municipal Hospital to enhance quality healthcare delivery within the Dagbon Kingdom.

The donation, as part of the Regent commitment towards investing in the health of his people for a healthy living aimed at contributing to national development.

The gesture took place after the historic enskinment of the Regent at the Gbewaa Palace on Friday in Yendi. The Regent assumed office following the tragic passing of the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II, who died in July 2026 while receiving medical treatment in South Africa.

The items were dewormer for adults, 1box, suspension gastrin, two boxes, syrup stopkof, two boxes, tablets stopkof , one box, capsules Loperamide, one boxy, ORS, one box, No10 liver salt, one box, tablets Diclo and Paracetamol, one box, hand washing soap, 20 Bottles and surgical gloves, one box.

Others to be donated are Hand gloves, 5boxes, syringe and needle(10cc), 10 boxes,syringe and needle (5cc),10boxes, giving set,10packs, Iv canula ,10boxes, adhesive plaster, two packs, roll gauze, two rolls, and nose Mask,5packs are meant to bridge existing supply gaps and improve patient outcomes in the municipality.

According to the Regent, with the several complains from staff and patients in Yendi and as a resident of Dagbon, I deem it critical need for robust healthcare infrastructure by supporting the Hospital, a vital referral facility serving the Eastern Corridor of the Northern Region.

He emphasized that true leadership is measured not just by tradition, but by the welfare and well-being of the citizenry.

"The health of our people is paramount. We must work together to ensure that our facilities are equipped to provide the quality care that our communities deserve", he said.

He appealed to corporate organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and well-meaning Ghanaians to partner with the traditional council to improve medical services across the Region.

Receiving the items, Dr. Abdul Rahaman Mohammed, Medical Superintendent of the Yendi Hospital on behalf of the management expressed profound gratitude to the Gbewaa Palace and the Dagbon Traditional Council for the gesture.

He noted that the intervention was both timely and highly impactful, particularly for the facility's emergency and maternity wards, which serve a high volume of patients from surrounding communities.

He gave the assurance that the donation would significantly enhance the prompt delivery of quality healthcare services and reiterated commitment to ensure a proper culture of maintenance to ensure that the equipment lasted to serve patients and clients.
