The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has urged innovators, financial institutions and technology partners to develop solutions that are secure, transparent and accessible, ensuring that innovation delivers meaningful value to every Ghanaian.
He made the call on Wednesday while addressing the Financial Architecture Summit 2026 in Accra, which was held under the theme “Innovation for Stability: Central Banking, Digital Finance and the New Architecture of Ghana’s Financial Future.”
The summit brought together the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiamah, regulators, financial institutions, fintech leaders, development partners and industry stakeholders for high-level discussions on building a resilient, inclusive and trusted digital financial ecosystem.
Mr George noted the inseparable link between digital infrastructure and modern financial services, stating sustainable financial innovation must be built on reliable connectivity, trusted digital identity, interoperability and strong cybersecurity.
“Innovation must move at the speed of opportunity, but regulation must move at the speed of trust,” he remarked, noting that while technology continues to unlock new possibilities, public trust remains the cornerstone of a sustainable digital finance ecosystem.
Pledging the Ministry’s commitment to inclusive digital transformation, he said that technology must ultimately improve the lives of citizens. “At the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, we measure digital transformation by a simple standard: does it change an ordinary life for the better?”
The Minister identified interoperability, inclusive-by-design systems and cyber resilience as the three pillars that should shape Ghana’s next phase of digital and financial transformation.
