According to a press release issued by the Ghana Police Service on 1st July 2026, the operation took place on Monday, June 29, 2026, when police intercepted a commercial vehicle transporting ammunition through an unapproved route outside Wa.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 200 boxes of AA cartridges, amounting to approximately 50,000 rounds of ammunition, which had been concealed beneath other goods in an apparent attempt to evade detection.

The police identified the three suspects as Alhassan Issahaku, Iddrisu Mashood, and Alhaji Issahaku, all of whom were arrested to assist with ongoing investigations into the case.
