A heartbreaking tragedy has unfolded at Alajo in Accra after the lifeless body of a child was discovered in a gutter, hours after the child was reportedly swept away by floodwaters during Monday's heavy downpour.
According to eyewitnesses, the child was carried away by fast-moving floodwaters as torrential rains triggered severe flooding in parts of Accra. Residents reportedly launched a frantic search in the hope of finding the child alive.
Sadly, the search ended in grief when the child's body was later recovered from a gutter within the area.
The incident has left residents devastated, with many expressing sorrow over the tragic loss and renewing calls for urgent measures to address perennial flooding and improve drainage systems in flood-prone communities.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, while the child's body has reportedly been conveyed for the necessary procedures.
