The Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Biakoye Constituency, Mr Atsu Charles, has dismissed claims by the Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, that the NDC government has lost focus on governance.

Speaking on the Bubune FM Morning Show hosted by Nana Yaw Asiamah, Mr. Atsu described the Minority Leader's comments as politically motivated, arguing that such criticisms are expected from an opposition figure seeking to satisfy his party's supporters.

According to him, the NDC administration, despite being in office for only about 15 months, has made significant progress in delivering on its campaign promises and remains committed to fulfilling the social contract outlined in its manifesto.

Mr. Atsu cited several flagship initiatives currently being implemented by the government, including the Big Push infrastructure projects, agricultural support programmes such as the distribution of fertilizers and drones to farmers, and ongoing public sector recruitment.

He further stated that the government's economic management has yielded positive results, noting improvements in key indicators such as inflation, interest rates, and exchange rate stability compared to the previous administration.

"The NDC government is implementing policies that directly impact the lives of Ghanaians. Many of the promises contained in our manifesto are already being fulfilled," he said.

The Biakoye NDC Communications Officer also highlighted the establishment of 24-hour economy markets, revealing that one such project is underway in Abotoase. He added that the government's 1:3:3 industrialisation initiative is progressing in selected sectors, while programmes such as the National Apprenticeship Programme and the One Million Coders initiative are creating opportunities for young people across the country.

He noted that the BOSTEC training centre is expected to play a key role in the implementation of the coding programme, with residents of the Biakoye Constituency among the beneficiaries.

Mr. Atsu expressed confidence that by the end of the year, Ghanaians would witness substantial progress on the government's campaign commitments.

"By the end of this year, Ghanaians will testify that the government has fulfilled a significant portion of its campaign promises. Public officials are actively carrying out their responsibilities, and political aspirations among individuals do not in any way undermine government performance," he stated.

He also rejected suggestions that government appointees are more focused on positioning themselves for future leadership roles than on governance, insisting that state officials remain committed to delivering on their mandates.

Mr. Atsu made these remarks during a panel discussion on Bubune FM while reacting to comments by Hon. Afenyo-Markin, who recently alleged that the NDC government had become distracted by internal political ambitions, with some appointees allegedly focusing on succession politics rather than governance.
