The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled power interruptions for Thursday, June 18, as it undertakes planned maintenance works in parts of the Central and Accra East Regions while addressing network faults affecting several communities in the Tema enclave.

In the Central Region, power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in two separate clusters of communities. Areas expected to be affected include Brimso Headworks, Akaikrom, Police Barrier, Ankaful Junction, Mpeasem, WAEC, Yayaaikawawo, Wanyiwato, Ankaful Prisons, Ankaful Township and nearby communities.

A second group of communities comprising Ayensodo, Kissi, Komenda, Sefwi Town, Dominase, Sekyere Hemang, Attabadze Town, Brenu Akyim, Eduagyei, Sanka, Bronyibima and Akwanda will also experience outages during the same period.

ECG explained that the maintenance exercise is necessary to improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply and apologised to customers for the inconvenience.

In the Accra East Region, another planned maintenance exercise is scheduled to take place between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Tseaddo Goil Filling Station, Tseaddo Royal Mart, West Trassaco, Trassaco Phase 2, Salem Estates, parts of School Junction and surrounding communities.

The exercise comes just days after a similar maintenance operation that affected the same areas earlier in the week.

Meanwhile, residents in parts of the Tema Region continue to experience unplanned power outages due to network faults.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, ECG said its engineers are working to resolve a fault affecting several communities, including Bel Acqua, Olam Grains, Ghana Steel, Star Cement, Sethi Realty, Abodakpi Farms, Kpone and its surrounding areas, Shang Hai, Communities 25 and 26, Kent Estates, ARS, DPS, JDevtraco, Adom Estates, PS Global, Mt Carmel, Bulasu, Ghana Flag, Afienya Zongo, Lebanon Zones 1 to 5, Zenu, Atadeka, Roman Down, Underbridge Market, State School for the Deaf, Kanawu, Safisana, BBF, Sydal Farms, Japan City, Teteman, Santor, King Solomon, Jordan City, Agbeshie Laryea, Aunty Araba, Nelplast and Kubekro.

A separate fault has also disrupted electricity supply to Mobole, Gravels, Afienya, Mataheko, Emmanuel Estates, Hot Oven, Melcom, Hisense, LIC, Odumse, Fiankonya, Ladowayo, Christian International School, Wildlife Gate, Shai Hills Military Training Camp, Inzag, Bright Cement, Eastern Quarries, Twin Quarries, Recycling, Mawu Be Ji Be, Dodowa Switching Station and neighbouring communities.

ECG assured affected customers that technical teams have been deployed to address the faults and restore power supply as quickly as possible.

The company appealed to customers to remain patient as efforts continue to resolve both the planned and unplanned outages, noting that the ongoing works are aimed at ensuring a more stable and reliable electricity supply in the long term.
