Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Asankrangwa, Western Region, have successfully prevented a newly constructed court building from being destroyed by fire following a swift response to an emergency call on June 16.
According to the GNFS, firefighters arrived at the scene within minutes and found the building engulfed in flames.
The crew immediately deployed dry chemical powder extinguishers and managed to bring the blaze under control shortly after arrival.
A statement from the Western Regional GNFS PRO noted that the fire destroyed an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) meter and a three-phase breaker, while some electrical service cables suffered partial damage.
However, the prompt intervention of the firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to other parts of the structure, saving the newly completed building from extensive destruction.
The GNFS noted that the operation also helped avert significant financial losses that could have resulted from a full-scale fire.
“The firefighters’ prompt intervention prevented the fire from spreading throughout the structure, saving the building from extensive damage and averting significant financial losses,” the statement read in part.
According to GNFS, no injuries or fatalities were recorded in the incident.
Meanwhile, investigations have commenced to determine the cause of the fire.
