Frimpong-Manso Institute extends best wishes to all BECE candidates

The Frimpong-Manso Institute (FMI) has extended its best wishes to candidates sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), while calling for integrity and discipline throughout the examination period.

In a press release issued on May 2, 2026, the President of the Institute, Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso, noted that approximately 620,000 students will begin writing the exams from Monday, describing the moment as a critical turning point in their academic journey.

“Students at the basic level are at the most fundamental crossroads in their academic lives,” he stated, stressing the importance of a supportive environment for candidates. He emphasized that government, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders must work together to ensure that all children—regardless of their backgrounds or geographical locations—have the opportunity to succeed.

The Institute also expressed concern over the growing incidence of examination malpractice, warning that the trend threatens the credibility of Ghana’s education system.

“We are deeply worried that examination malpractices are becoming the norm rather than the exception. These practices erode the credibility of the country’s education system and distort students’ assessment outcomes,” Rev. Prof. Frimpong-Manso cautioned.

FMI therefore called on invigilators, supervisors, and security personnel to remain vigilant and take decisive action against any form of malpractice at examination centres.

“We urge all officials not to condone but deal swiftly and firmly with any kind of malfeasance,” the statement added.

The Institute further advised candidates to remain focused and confident, urging them to resist any temptation to engage in dishonest practices.

“Candidates should be focused and confident throughout the examination period and avoid any temptation to cheat. Above all, they should commit whatever they do to the Lord, and He will make their efforts succeed,” Rev. Prof. Frimpong-Manso said, referencing Proverbs 16:3.
