The Ghana Police Service has firmly dismissed reports suggesting that some inmates who recently escaped from police custody in Adabraka are connected to the murder case involving the in-law of Sammy Gyamfi.
In a press release issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit on April 27, 2026, the Police described the claims as false and misleading, stating that the reports circulating in sections of the media are inaccurate.
According to the statement, three out of six inmates who escaped from the Adabraka District Police custody on April 26 had been wrongly linked to the high-profile murder case. However, the Police clarified that the escapees were never detained in connection with the said case and have no ties to the incident.
The Command further revealed that swift police action has already led to the re-arrest of three of the escapees, while a manhunt is underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Authorities have also launched a full-scale investigation into how the inmates managed to escape from custody, with assurances that those responsible will be held accountable.
The Police have called on the public to assist with credible information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining fugitives, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining law and order.
Officials say further updates will be communicated as investigations continue.
