The Paramount Chief of the Nandom Traditional Area and President of Rabito Clinic, Naa Professor Edmund Nminyem Delle Chiir VIII, has underscored Africa’s growing capacity to shape global health training.
He made the remarks at the launch of the CarePoint Institute for International Training (CIIT) in Accra on Tuesday, April 21.
The institute is expected to provide structured, hands-on international training for students and professionals in clinical care, public health and health technology.
“This is more than the opening of an institution. It is the birth of a bridge — connecting classrooms to clinics, Ghana to the globe, and today's knowledge to tomorrow's healing,” he said.
Naa Prof Delle noted that the initiative comes at a time when global health challenges demand cross-border collaboration and stronger training systems.
He stressed that the COVID-19 pandemic exposed weaknesses in global health systems and highlighted the need for shared solutions.
“If our health challenges are global, then our training, our collaboration, and our solutions must be global as well,” he added.
According to him, the CIIT will build on the legacy of Rabito Clinic by focusing on prevention, practical skills and community-based healthcare delivery.
He explained that the institute will train health professionals who are not only clinically competent but also capable of educating communities and developing innovative solutions.
The initiative also aims to foster partnerships with institutions across Ghana and internationally and also align with global health goals such as the World Health Organization’s workforce strategy.
By 2030, the institute is expected to train thousands of health professionals and support cross-border collaborations in healthcare delivery and innovation.
