President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday, April 19, 2026, inspected ongoing construction works on a Cardio Centre at the Tamale Teaching Hospital in the Northern Region.
The visit, held at 10:00 a.m., formed part of efforts to assess progress on the critical healthcare project aimed at expanding specialised cardiac services in northern Ghana.
The Cardio Centre is expected to improve access to advanced heart care, reduce the need for referrals to facilities in the southern part of the country, and strengthen overall healthcare delivery.
Once completed, the facility is also anticipated to ease pressure on existing cardiac centres while bringing life saving treatment closer to people in the Northern Region and surrounding areas.
