Former Deputy Minister for Gender Children and Social Protection Rachel Nana Adwoa Appoh has taken a swipe at the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Kwame Obeng Asare, popularly known as A Plus, urging him to abandon what she described as gangsterism traits and conduct himself as a national leader.

According to her the posture and public conduct of the MP are increasingly at odds with his responsibilities as a representative of the people of Gomoa Central and as a member of the executive.

Speaking on Accra-based CTV’s Oman Ghana Nkusuo morning show on Friday January 16 2026 hosted by Obaapa Yaa Titi Ms Appoh stressed that leadership and gangsterism cannot coexist.

“He must be told that he cannot be a gangster and be part of the executive. If he wants to be a gangster he should be on the streets. If he wants to be a member of the executive then he must behave as such,” she said.

Ms Appoh also raised concerns about the MP’s conduct on social media particularly what she described as his gloating over reports that some residents of his constituency had been beaten.

The former Gomoa Central MP noted that the office of a Member of Parliament offers the opportunity to positively transform a constituency adding that projecting a gangster image does not serve that purpose.

She further questioned how an individual could portray himself as a gangster while maintaining close ties with the President and the Speaker of Parliament.

“I don’t have a problem with A Plus,” she clarified. “But we are all pursuing different ambitions.”

Well, that's his style of connecting with his constituents.
