Atradition To Protect

Atradition To Protect

The New Patriotic Party has been a party run on principles steeped in ideology. The NPP cannot and should not sacrifice their tradition of tolerance and free speech on the altar of pettiness. The party endured worst criticism from its own members to the extent that some resorted to authoring books (CHASING THE ELEPHANT INTO THE BUSH is on my mind)

The party has never been known to expel those who out of frustrations criticized and even insulted the leadership. Prof. Frimpong Boateng is entitled to his views and frustrations. We should commit to rebuilding the party not tearing it apart by expelling a man frustrated enough to rants.

If we seek to develop the nation on the principle of “DEVELOPMENT IN FREEDOM” then we must begin the process by rebuilding our party with the same principle. Let us allow our members to vent out or even lash out their frustrations. Let’s call ourselves “home” and thrash out our differences.

To the many who are angry and deeply frustrated by the happenings in our party, please let us not wash our dirty linen in public for our opponents to capitalize on our dirt and use it against us. Let us use the appropriate channels provided by the party and desist from throwing away our dear baby with the bath water. We have a duty to enhance and preserve what our forefathers fought for.

This party was forged from fire and pain. Brave men stood up to disctatorahip and wrestled power from the hand of a blood thirsty colossus of a dictator. They fought to give Ghanaians the freedom to live as humans. Some of us in our very young days endured slaps from soldiers because we supported this party. Though we did not benefit from the party by appointments, we believed the ideals of the party to some extent has brought great relief to Ghanaians even if they don’t want to remember and acknowledge them.

To my dear patriots, do not let those whose history is dripping blood and hooliganism all of a sudden present themselves as saints because the true patriots of this nation are becoming intolerant. Don’t let a tradition of coup makers ride on your weakness to present themselves as true democrats. Don’t let those who saw beauty in our tradition and courageously defected from the violence of our opponents be disappointed in their choice (Auntie Frances Esiam on my mind).

Finally, I will plead with the elders of the party to move swiftly to safeguard our tradition. We must be candid with ourselves behind closed doors and unite in public to confront our opponents. Please call the feuding factions home, talk to them and save our party.

Let us reach out to disgruntled members and pull them along. Let us reach out to everyone and forgive ourselves of our individual and collective failures and unite for the war head.

Let our internal competitions be held devoid of the excessive press coverage. Let our research and intelligence teams work to root out moles and infiltrators.

The NPP has proven to be the best political tradition in governance. Yes, we failed miserably in the second term of our second opportunity to govern but we have proven to Ghanaians that the people of this country are better off in the hands of a strong NPP.

The party will rise again.
The party will recapture power someday.
There will be once again an era where a President from our party beamed with glory and hope restored to Ghanaians. One day, there will be another J. A. Kuffour!

We will rise again from the ashes of defeat. We will rebuild stronger and recapture power!

Ghana continues to be a growing concern and only a strong and united NPP can save her.

I am a preacher. I am NOT politically neutral. I am a Patriot. I support the NPP…..
