The Western Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest and remand of a 45-year-old ex-convict, Kudjo Ntow, for the alleged rape and murder of his wife’s 17-year-old niece, Olivia Kwofie, at Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region.
The incident occurred in the early hours of June 1, 2026. In a statement issued on June 4, police alleged that Ntow sealed the victim’s mouth with super glue, raped her, and later killed her before fleeing into hiding.
According to the police report, at about 3:30am, a witness, Samuel Kingsford Kwofie, was heading to his rubber plantation when he heard cries for help near the School B area, close to the Fire Service Station at Agona Nkwanta. He proceeded to the scene and found the victim sitting naked on the ground with her hands and legs tied with a rope.
After untying her and while escorting her to the police station, the suspect allegedly reappeared and attacked them from behind, striking the victim with a cement block before fleeing again.
Police officers who later arrived at the scene found the teenager lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries on her face. She was rushed to the Agona Nkwanta Polyclinic but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following a manhunt, the Regional Police Intelligence Unit together with the Agona Nkwanta Police arrested Ntow on June 2 at his hideout in Nsuaem.
The suspect, confirmed by police as an ex-convict, was arraigned before the Appollo Circuit Court in Takoradi on June 3 and has been remanded into prison custody. He is expected to reappear in court on June 17, 2026.
