Tano North NDC accuses NPP MP of deception over Duayaw Nkwanta–Bomaa road project

The Communications Department of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tano North Constituency of the Ahafo Region has accused the area’s Member of Parliament, Dr. Gideon Boako, of engaging in political deceit over claims surrounding the Duayaw Nkwanta–Bomaa road project.

Addressing a press conference in Dormaa, the NDC’s Deputy Communication Officer for Tano North, Kwame Osea Boateng, said a viral video showing Dr. Boako appealing to President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government to construct the road exposed what he described as “gross political hypocrisy.”

Mr. Boateng said it was ironic for Dr. Boako, who served as Economic Advisor to then Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to now call for the same project his government had failed to execute after eight years in power. “The NPP government has had two full terms, yet the Duayaw Nkwanta–Bomaa road remains in a deplorable state,” he stated.

He recounted that the NDC administration, under President Mahama, began work on the road in 2016, but construction came to a halt when the NPP assumed office the following year. Since then, he said, residents have witnessed repeated promises and ceremonial sod-cuttings — first in 2020 and again in 2024 — without any real progress.

Mr. Boateng assured residents that the next NDC government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, will prioritize and complete the project under the “Big Push” infrastructure agenda. “The NDC is committed to restoring hope and ensuring that abandoned projects like the Duayaw Nkwanta–Bomaa road are completed for the benefit of our people,” he affirmed.

Adding his voice, the Assembly Member for Bomaa-Asikesu, Bajar Bisuma Kwame, dismissed claims that Dr. Boako had requested machinery from the District Roads Improvement Programme to work on the area’s roads. He alleged that the MP had not even visited the Assembly this year, describing his statements as misleading.

Mr. Bisuma urged residents of Bomaa and surrounding communities to remain patient, assuring them that an NDC government under Mahama would bring lasting solutions to the constituency’s infrastructure challenges.

The NDC maintains that Dr. Boako’s recent remarks are a desperate attempt to deflect from the government’s failure to deliver on its promises and a reminder of the need for accountable leadership focused on genuine development rather than political showmanship.
