Daniel Owusu Koranteng, the prime suspect in the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, is set to appear before court today, Wednesday, April 2.
Koranteng's court appearance follows his recent arrest, as he faces charges related to the assassination of Suale, a journalist renowned for exposing corruption in Ghanaian politics.
Ahmed Suale, a key investigator at Tiger Eye PI, was gunned down in January 2019 in Madina, Accra, in a killing that sparked national and international outrage. His work had been instrumental in uncovering high-profile corruption cases, making his murder a chilling attack on press freedom.
According to law enforcement sources, Koranteng—also known as Akwasi Amakye—was allegedly near the crime scene at the time of the shooting. Suale was ambushed and shot at close range while driving, in what appeared to be a targeted execution.
Beyond the murder charges, Koranteng is also accused of betrayal, with reports suggesting that he leaked Suale’s photographs to a politician believed to be linked to the crime.
The case has reignited demands for justice and stronger protections for journalists, as authorities move forward with the legal proceedings against the suspect.
