The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) has reacted to the revelation by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, regarding the National Service Authority (NSA) ghost names scandal.
Speaking at a media engagement on Monday, March 24, the Attorney General disclosed that the former Chief Executive Officer and other officials of the NSA paid money to a Member of Parliament, who then collaborated with some journalists to suppress the story.
“We also have evidence that in November 2024, the CEO of the NSS and others paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament to kill the story in the media and to defend them,” Dr. Ayine stated.
Reacting to this in a press statement, the operators of The Fourth Estate investigative journalism portal said they were not surprised by the revelation.
However, they expressed keen interest in knowing the identity of the lawmaker who allegedly accepted bribes to bury the story.
“In the interest of transparency and accountability, we call on the Attorney General (AG) to reveal the MP who was paid to do the bidding of the NSA officials.
“This is important because, in our view, MPs are supposed to be protectors of the public purse, not enablers of actions that drain it. Furthermore, the AG’s disclosure is a serious indictment on the entire institution of Parliament if the individual is not named,” they noted.

Afenyo is the one who collected the money to kill the news. Ayine shouldn't treat him with kids gloves.
