Students of Odorgonno Senior High School staged a protest on the Awoshie-Anyaa road early Monday morning, February 24, 2025, demanding that authorities fix malfunctioning traffic lights that have posed a danger to pedestrians for years.
According to the students, the traffic lights at the busy intersection have been out of order for four years, creating unsafe crossing conditions.
They claim the situation has already led to the tragic death of one of the school’s security guards. Despite repeated complaints and past demonstrations by residents, they say authorities have failed to take action.
“We are going to continue this demonstration until Friday if we don’t see any action by authorities,” some of the protesters vowed.
The protest briefly disrupted traffic on the major roadway as students blocked sections of the road to draw attention to their concerns.
Local authorities have yet to respond to the students' demands.
