Corruption, Mismanagement and Poor Governance caused your defeat: Prof Oquaye committee is meaningless

Political cover-up applies to people in positions of authority who abuse power but try to avoid or silence criticism or to deflect guilt of wrongdoing. In their desperation to avoid criticism, the perpetrators of a cover-up will do anything to shield their misdeed, breach of trust or duty and dereliction of duty.

After the immediate past New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has been subjected to the most humiliating and embarrassing defeat in the political history of this country, the Akufo-Addo faction of the elephant fraternity in an effort to insulate the former president from any blame appointed a puppet and a crony of the Akyem-brotherhood to chair a subterfuge committee tasked with unravelling the cause of the presidential and parliamentary defeat.

This is an exercise in futility; it is nothing but a planned strategy to deflect blame. The real and actual causes of this memorable and deserving defeat are economic mismanagement, poor governance, greed, corruption, impunity, disrespect to citizenry, abuse of power and insatiable desire for materialism. This is a fact, facts are sacred and immutable, the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government is the worst thing to ever happen to this country.

The composition of the committee clearly suggests nothing but subterfuge and an intention to whitewash the president and provide him with an escape route; it is an avenue to protect former president Akufo-Addo and his associates including members of the committee. Former president Akufo-Addo was averse to divergent and opposing views from his cabinet members. Cabinet members of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government were said to have been reduced to errand boys who only attended to meetings just to keep their jobs but not to make any meaningful contributions. In actual fact they were scared to speak up at cabinet meetings. The meetings were not different from a family meetings, the only people who could speak confidently were the president’s family.

The level of nepotism, cronyism, impunity, opulence, state capture, corruption arrogance and chicanery under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government was the pinnacle and zenith of any evil deeds that could be inflicted on any society; it was sadistic and torturing to be a Ghanaian under that administration. Former President Akufo-Addo and his cronies clearly know what caused their deserving defeat; they should credit us with some respect.

Assuming without admitting that the former Akufo-Addo and his cronies have a genuine intention of unravelling the cause of the crushing defeat, why didn’t they appoint members of the NPP who are not puppets and stooges unlike Prof. Mike Oquaye, why not appoint those who could face him with the truth about how he chose family over country, how he valued friendship over competence, how he turned the party’s General secretary into an errand boy after he shouted at him at a cabinet meeting, how he arrogantly asked chiefs to stand on their feet before greeting him, how he sat unconcerned whiles his appointees and his children plundered the national coffers?.

Former President Akufo-Addo is a coward who cannot deal with people who can stand up to him and tell him the truth, he only feels comfortable when surrounded by cheer leaders, sycophants, and bootlicking puppets.

Good riddance, this country must and should never be subjected to what if faced in the past eight years under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia’s administration.
