Having completed his list of Ministers of State in 14 days upon assumption of office as promised prior to his election in December last year, President John Mahama is expected to name Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) soon.

Already some regions have began vetting those who have applied to be considered for these positions with the remaining regions hoping to fix suitable dates to vet their applicants.

Several hundreds of interested persons have expressed interest in becoming MMDCEs. One of such individual is Gifty Dede Bossman, a 46-year-old staff of the Catholic University of Ghana (CUG) at Fiapre near Sunyani.

Madam Dede Bossman, who has strong analytical and problem-solving ability, holds Master of Science degree in Organisational Development and Practice from the University of Development Studies and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Organisational Development from the same university.

The hardworking and results-oriented lady also holds Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Business Administration (Management option) from the Catholic University of Ghana at Fiapre near Sunyani and a certificate in Organisational Development and Resource Mobilization from the College of Community Development, also in Sunyani.

Vision
With her vast experience over the years, Madam Dede Bossman hopes to focus a lot of attention on the need improve sanitation in the Sunyani Municipality, especially within the main market centres.

“My vision for Sunyani is that I will try my best to foster unity among all residents of the area so that together, we all push the development of Sunyani forward. I’ll further place a high premium on the interest of the youth, market women and children,” she said.

She says, she would run an open-door policy and welcome all opinions in relation to pushing the development of Sunyani forward and schedule meeting with various communities and stakeholder groups from time to time to share relevant information from the central government, and the Sunyani Municipal Assembly.

This interactive session, according to her, will also be used to take feedback from the people and address some of the issues that would come up in the process.

Madam Dede Bossman told the media in Sunyani that, when given the nod as the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, she will prioritize the tarring of access roads and other key roads in the area while championing the interest of the youth and the vulnerable.

Applicants for MMDCE positions in the Bono Region are expected to be vetted next week.
