Samuel Aboagye, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, has expressed dissatisfaction with the recent parliamentary representation of his constituency.

In an interview on Wednesday, January 15, Aboagye stated, “What Obuasi East voted for is not what is being presented in Parliament.”

The parliamentary candidate vowed to pursue legal action until his victory is resolved.

Aboagye’s comments stem from the controversial outcome of the December 7, 2024, parliamentary elections.

Initially, he was declared the winner. However, following a re-collation of results, the Electoral Commission (EC) announced Patrick Boakye Yiadom of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the winner by a narrow margin of 19 votes.

Aboagye contested the EC’s re-collation, filing a court case to challenge the revised results.

He argued that the second collation and declaration of results were unlawful, as the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I. 127) do not permit such actions after the official announcement of results.

He also contended that the initial Form 1D, which declared him the winner, was binding and could not be altered without consent.
