Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has announced that he will not seek re-election as the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This revelation comes after the party’s heavy defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on Okay FM's "Ade Akye Abia" morning show, Nana B explained that he is reflecting on the party’s performance and addressing the issues that led to the loss.
“Re-election is not on my agenda,” he stated emphatically.
Nana B, together with the party’s leadership and National Campaign Team, has taken full responsibility for the election defeat.
He acknowledged that the results fell far short of expectations, particularly in the Ashanti Region, the party’s stronghold, where the NPP garnered 1,366,800 votes (63.9% of valid votes), a significant drop from their target of 85%.
“If we had won the elections, I would have taken all the glory that comes with it as National Organiser, so it is only proper to accept the blame when we lose and work to make things right,” he said.
Nana B stressed that his priority now is to help reposition, re-energize, and reorganize the party to prepare for victory in 2028.
“This is not the time to apportion blame but rather to reflect. We need to examine where things went wrong and take steps to rebuild the party,” he added.
