Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, founder and leader of the Glorious Wave Church, has claimed divine intervention played a role in President-elect John Mahama’s victory in the 2024 elections.
According to the outspoken prophet, God instructed him to create voter apathy in Kumasi, a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to secure the National Democratic Congress (NDC) win.
Speaking during a sermon on Sunday, December 22, 2024, Prophet Badu Kobi explained how he and members of his church carried out the divine directive from God.
“On the day of the elections, when you were voting, Pastor Acquah was in the village, Pastor Bright was in Accra, and I was in Kumasi, walking through Kumasi, stopping everything that would be functioning," he told his congregation.
The prophet elaborated that “God’s instructions were based on a prediction: had NPP voters turned out in large numbers, the election would have proceeded to a runoff.”
Even in such a scenario, he claimed John Mahama would have still emerged victorious with over 60% of the votes, surpassing the 56% he secured in the initial round.
“God told me that if the NPP had people [turn out], the NDC couldn’t win outright, and it would go to a second round. But in the second round, Mahama would have won with over 60%, which would have shocked the whole of Ghana,” he stated.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana declared John Mahama the winner of the presidential election on December 9, 2024, with 6,328,397 votes.
NPP candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured 4,657,304 votes. The NDC also achieved majority in Parliament, marking a significant shift in Ghana’s political landscape.
