The Eastern Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the President to pause the ongoing transition process until the Electoral Commission (EC) declares the results of four outstanding parliamentary constituencies—Suhum, Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa North—in their favour.
According to the party’s regional chairman, Jeffery Konadu Addo, the NPP’s internal collation system confirms their victory in these constituencies, based on pink sheets issued by Presiding Officers at polling stations.
The party insists these documents, which are legal and binding, validate their claims of dominance in the Eastern Region.
The NPP has already secured numerous parliamentary seats in the region, including Akuapem North, Okere, New Juaben North, New Juaben South, Ayensuano, Kade, Akyem Swedru, Akyem Oda, Achiase, Asene Manso Akroso, Ofoase/Ayirebi, Abetifi, Mpraeso, Nkawkaw, Abirem, Abuakwa South, Abuakwa North, Fanteakwa South, Atiwa East, and Atiwa West.
The party’s main rival, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has claimed victories in Afram Plains South, Asuogyaman, Lower Manya Krobo, Upper Manya Krobo, Upper West Akyem, Akuapem South, and Lower West Akyem.
Additionally, Afram Plains North has been secured by an independent candidate.
The NPP has raised concerns over alleged intimidation and violence by NDC supporters in the four undeclared constituencies, claiming attempts to subvert the will of the electorate.
The party is urging the EC to expedite the release of results and ensure that the democratic process is upheld.
In a statement, the NPP also appealed to the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to act decisively in maintaining peace and order in these constituencies.
“We expect professionalism from these institutions in ensuring that justice prevails and the choice of the people is respected,” the statement read.
The NPP has assured its supporters of its commitment to protecting their electoral victories and has called for calm and vigilance as the process unfolds.
“We remain confident that the Eastern Region will continue to be a stronghold of development and progress under the NPP.
"Our track record in developmental projects and grassroots mobilization puts us in a strong position to consolidate our dominance in the region,” the party noted.
