People will suffer no matter how wealthy a nation is if its leaders are ignorant fools. This is Ghana's current state of affairs that has paralyzed all its infrastructures, businesses, and investments. President Akufo Addo received a report on the effects of illegal small-scale mining in Ghana from Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, the former Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, but he took no action.
The presidency rejected the report that Professor Frimpng Boateng submitted to Akufo Addo, claiming that no evidence had been provided to substantiate the grave accusations in a nation where voicing one's opinions is frowned upon and speaking the truth makes one a public enemy. The current destructive effects of illegal mining demonstrate not only Akufo Addo's incompetence and corruption but also the fact that he actively supports the practice, which is why he did nothing to stop it.
Ghana has been struggling as a nation, despite having abundant natural resources, and being one of the leading producers of cocoa because, whenever the country advances, several incompetent leaders from certain tribes will emerge to mislead the populace. Their actions have caused the economy, businesses, and investments of the country to collapse today. People want someone like me to support this useless government, but since I'm not that ignorant, some pricks claim that I hate the president.
Politicians from the NPP, such as Akufo Addo, Ken Ofori-Atta, and Mahamudu Bawumia, have irreparably damaged the country, but anytime someone speaks out about the problem, they are attacked, which makes fighting corruption difficult in a place where tribalism is valued more than advancements. Nobody should expect me to back a stupid president who destroyed a hospital when he is aware that his voracious hunger for corruption will not permit him to construct a new one.
In March 2021, the report was given to the Chief of Staff at the President's Office. However, rather than investigating the complaint and issuing the appropriate orders, the president's office claimed the report's allegations were hearsay and unfounded. If Akufo Addo and Bawumia were sincere and serious leaders, the situation would not have been so bad as to destroy and pollute the major rivers and the surrounding areas at the time Prof. Boateng presented the report.
You shouldn't expect people in Ghana to like you if you speak the truth. After the Loud Silence TV host, Kevin Taylor disclosed that a report the professor had submitted to the president regarding illicit mining had been ignored for months, Professor Frimpong Boateng came under fire. Unfortunately, it came to an end with the baseless accusation that Prof. Boateng published the report because the president, Akufo Addo, had not extended the length of his ministerial position during his second term.
How serious are Ghanaians as people? Why have they allowed an incompetent government to rule the nation for nearly eight years, causing harm, and ruining businesses, investments, and the economy? The NPP’s incompetence has also destroyed the agriculture sector, including the production of cocoa, which has reduced the European Union's purchasing power. I wonder what kind of individuals Ghanaians are if they are not serious enough to see the perilous situation they find themselves in right now.
Prof. Frimpong Boateng is a clever individual who genuinely cares about Ghana's development. In my opinion, only arrogant, greedy, and selfish individuals like Akufo Addo will find his report unworthy. His report could have reduced the illegal menace if the president had taken it seriously. In addition to the illicit mining that has devastated Ghana, Prof. Frimpong Boateng also spoke against the "NPP serving Ghanaians with family, friends, and concubines government," instead of focusing on national development.
