In a highly anticipated move, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Akatsi South, Lawyer Bernard Ahiafor, has officially filed his nomination to seek re-election in the December 7th, 2024 polls.
The filing ceremony, held at the Akatsi South Constituency office of the Electoral Commission, was marked by enthusiastic supporters, party executives, and well-wishers. Lawyer Ahiafor, running on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was accompanied by the party’s Constituency Chairman, Mr. Anthony Kwadzo Owusu, Secretary Hon. Daniel Dagba, Deputy Treasurer Mr. Daniel Gidi, and the Elections Director, among other key party officers.
In his address, Lawyer Ahiafor expressed deep gratitude to the people of Akatsi South for their continued trust, highlighting his contributions to the constituency. “I am proud of what we have achieved together, from groundbreaking infrastructure development and healthcare reforms to significant improvements in education and job creation. Together, we have made great strides,” he said.
He further pledged to maintain his commitment to transformative leadership, ensuring the progress of Akatsi South. “I will continue to ensure our constituency remains a beacon of hope and development,” Ahiafor stated.
The filing process was completed swiftly, with the MP’s nomination certified in under 10 minutes, a reflection of the party’s organization and readiness. NDC Constituency Chairman Mr. Anthony Kwadzo Owusu lauded Ahiafor’s performance, saying, “He has been an outstanding MP, and we are confident he will continue to deliver. We urge everyone in Akatsi South to support him and our presidential candidate for a decisive victory.”
Constituency Secretary Hon. Daniel Dagba also appealed to constituents to place their trust in Ahiafor, emphasizing the MP’s vast experience and his ability to effectively represent Akatsi South in Parliament. “By retaining Mr. Ahiafor, the people of Akatsi South will benefit from his expertise and parliamentary leadership, ensuring their concerns are addressed,” Dagba noted.
As the campaign intensifies, Lawyer Ahiafor is expected to unveil a comprehensive manifesto outlining his vision for the next four years, with his supporters optimistic about his chances given his track record and the trust he has built within the constituency.
