The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Sunyani East, Seid Mubarak, has called on the people of Sunyani to vote for John Mahama as president and him as their Member of Parliament in the upcoming elections.
Mubarak emphasized that the majority of significant development projects in Sunyani were constructed under NDC leadership. Speaking at the party's manifesto launch in Winneba, he pointed out that while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has represented Sunyani East in parliament for the past 28 years, they have little to show in terms of major infrastructure.
"The NPP cannot boast of any significant landmark projects in Sunyani," Mubarak stated. He went on to list several key developments brought by the NDC, including the Cocobod office, Sunyani Hospital, the asphalted road from Dormaahenkro to Kumasi, the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani Technical University, rural electrification during Rawlings' regime, and the Bank of Ghana building constructed under John Mahama’s administration.
Mubarak argued that the people of Sunyani are now seeking a representative who can bring real development to the area. He highlighted the deplorable state of the main market in Sunyani as a pressing issue, promising that one of his priorities would be to ensure John Mahama constructs a modernized market for the city, similar to the Kejetia Market in Kumasi and the Kotokuraba Market in Cape Coast.
He also expressed concern about the disillusionment among the youth in Sunyani, attributing it to the failed promises of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government. Mubarak urged the youth to support John Mahama's vision of implementing a 24-hour shift system, which he believes will create more employment opportunities.
In addition to his campaign promises, Mubarak highlighted his past contributions to the community, such as providing food to over 10,000 vulnerable households during the COVID-19 pandemic and constructing around ten mechanized boreholes to address water shortages in the constituency.
