NPP I'll win the primaries and retain Mfantseman seat for NPP — Ophelia
DEC 26, 2023 LISTEN

The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency has successfully filed her nomination forms to recontest the parliamentary primaries with a call on all party loyalists to support her to retain the seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to her, she stands a better chance to retain the seat for the NPP coming 2024 crucial elections.

On Monday, 25th December 2023, in her Facebook post, Madam Ophelia Mensah was accompanied by some notable Chiefs in the constituency, religious leaders including Imams and Pastors, the current MCE, Kenneth Kelly Essuman, former MCE Hon.Quainoo Arthur, some members of the Council of Elders and Patrons, current and past Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, Polling Station Executives, party members and many well wishers to file her nominations.

Recounting why she is the best bet for the NPP, she highlighted some of her achievements saying, on the educational front, the constituency under her leadership has benefitted from numerous initiatives such as financial assistance to over 200 tertiary education students, scholarships for graduate studies, renovation and construction of new school blocks.

"I've facilitated the recruitment of 40 youth as teaching professionals in GES", stated the MP. "Under my watch we've seen the construction of new markets, lorry parks, construction of new roads, reshaping of some feeder roads, extension of electricity to many new and developing areas, fixing of over 3000 street bulbs to enhance visibility and improve security."

She added, "The health sector has not been left unattended to, one major intervention under my tenure as MP is an ongoing construction of a new and modern Accident and Emergency Center for the Saltpond Government Hospital. This is to provide some relief for accident victims and all others who may need some emergency assistance."

"Since water they say is life, we've been embarking on the drilling of boreholes for some communities, we've supplied polytanks to some communities for storage of water, construction of community centers for over 20 communities and still counting," she recounted

According to Ophelia Mensah Hayford, over 60 youth have been assisted to get recruitment into various security services. These and many other interventions in the area of human resource management and development for the constituency she claims is a hallmark of her leadership which put her above any competition for 2024 re-election bid.

However, she admitted that the core mandate of an MP is to formulate laws but can also be an agent for development within the constituency they represent.

"The journey begins now, come onboard and let's do this together for NPP to retain the Mfantseman seat," she averred.
