The Repercussions Of Ghanaian Education In Our Rural Communities A Major Concern -Spr Quarshie Prince

Education is notably considered to be an important component in the growth of a country. I am much convinced that a well structured and supported, comfortably accessible education system is an efficient way to make people economically conscious and makes them participate in economic growth and self development.

It is important to understand the need for good and affordable quality education in our rural areas, as it helps keep rural areas populated. Very young people move to the urban areas for a better chance in education and employment.

By doing so, rural communities will be healthier and have a sustainable future. Education also exposes the masses to information and helps prevent the misinterpretation of information.

Education can lead to many positive outcomes, such as an improved ability to understand policies, procedures, rights, duties, government schemes, legislation, available benefits, and protection by law.

Over the past years, we have seen a focus on providing education to females all over the world, debating that girls receive an education no less than boys. Nevertheless, if we consider a step further, we can think about educating rural communities. Most especially those in the northern sectors. It has become a tradition that most northerners dont get the chance to benefit from quality education. However, it's time as citizens, and as a country, we reconsider education in our rural areas as a priority.

Statistically, it was stated that "as of 2021, between 87 percent and 91 percent of urban localities had access to basic education. On the other hand, the share was lower among rural communities. Only 40 percent of the rural areas had access to Junior High School (JHS), while pre-primary education was available to 38.7 percent of the rural communities. Overall, as of 2019, around 35 thousand children of primary school age were unenrolled in school in Ghana".

However, increasing the quality of education in rural areas can have greater effect on the development of employment opportunities. A study has shown that the availability of skilled labour is a prime factor in choosing a community for an industrial placement. It's time as a country we capture schools in our rural communities on the mainstream to enhance good and quality education. It has always been that those in the urban areas benefit good quality education than those in the rural areas which is a bad.

In the nutshell, education plays a major role in rural communities, the people, and the land itself. With quality education, there is always a better future in store for rural communities.

As a philanthropist, an influencer, a student, and an educator, I believe that the past shows that education is an important factor in bringing about rural development in any country.
