Economic Intelligence Unit's (EIU) Subtle Advice To Delegates Of The National Democratic Congress

Economic Intelligence Units (EIU) Subtle Advice To Delegates Of The National Democratic Congress

The EIU is consistent with its previous and the current predictions on the NDCs' strong chances of winning the 2024 elections.

It's refreshing to note that some of the people who were hitherto livid and hostile to the EIU's previous predictions are now comfortable with the current reports for the obvious reason that it favours their current aspirations in its main outlook. The current report, nonetheless, is said to corroborate a yet to be published National Democratic Congress research results on factors that would influence the 2024 general elections in Ghana.

It has been said that it was based on the said NDC research findings that the decision to change the Party’s leadership in Parliament was arrived at, giving preference to someone with impeccable economics background to takeover the leadership of the minority Party's business in Parliament.

The question however arises as to why it is difficult for the leadership of the party to apply the same research based reasoning as yardstick to bench the former president whose professional qualifications is far from the public finance management and economics bias, which are expressly desired of the next candidate expected to lead the NDC to victory 2024.

Notwithstanding the implicit but unambiguous indications of the kind of candidate (new) that is desirable for the party and country as per the various consecutive research findings, it looks especially at this stage, like a rather uncomfortable suggestion to be considered by the twice unsuccessful presidential candidate H.E. John Dramani Mahama and some supporters.

Notwithstanding various whisperings, it is not clear whether the former president's dithering on the subject of his intention to contest and his last-minute announcement was influenced by the contents of both EIU Reports and the NDC's unpublished research findings recently refered to by party executives.

The EIU has subtly suggested Dr. Kwabena Duffuor is the one potential candidate that can successfully lead the NDC to dislodge the New Patriotic Party from power come 2024.

The EIU Report in that light specifically mentioned Alan Kyerematen for the NPP and Dr Kwabena Duffuor for the NDC.

The abysmal performance of the NPP and the level of damage done to Ghana's economic fortunes is unprecedented.

It is, therefore, not surprising for the EIU in their evaluation, to mention, out of the vying candidates of both parties, someone with the gravitas for the challenge like Dr Kwabena Duffuor, who by inference of the EIU's findings, stands a better chance to lead Ghana than any of the other aspiring candidates for both parties.

Meanwhile, Duffuor's grassroots campaign messages that has taken him to the doorsteps of the NDC delegates, meeting them at the very basic levels of the Party's structures, including his vigorous interactions with branch executives of all ages and gender as well as his lively interactions day and night with cadres of the Party across the country, has completely dispelled and buried the issue of age which his opponents at the start of the campaign sought to unsuccessfully capitalize, simply on account of the abysmal failures of President Akufo-Addo.

With the stage now set for the showdown of May 13, the NDC grassroots delegates in heeding to the tacit and implicit leadings of the EIU on who best can clinch the desired victory for the NDC in 2024 and the NDC's own unpublished research findings on the central place of the economy in the 2024 elections, (based on which it effected its recent parliamentary leadership changes), should go out there and vote for a new leader who perfectly fits the desired criteria so deciphered for the best and most winnable candidate for the 2024 elections.

When the dice is finally cast, it will be to see how the NDC Grassroots will take their destiny into their own hands and once again, as they did at the recent National Executive elections, vote for the change and new leader the NDC needs to clinch victory in 2024 in order to assume in January 2025, the reigns of power that has painfully, twice eluded the NDC!

That unprecedented quiet grassroots revolution, that saw delegates vote against imposed candidates who had underperformed or outlived their usefulness in certain positions, notwithstanding the ugly mix of inducements and intimidation, by interest groups who have, unfortunately for the NDC, made it their business, that only supporters of a particular candidate, had the right to occupy the party’s top positions.

The NDC grassroots form the majority of the party and are more than capable of saving the NDC from these adamant interest groups and proteges, hell bent on hearing only their own self serving narratives in complete dissonance with the grassroots and national mood; the demand for a new path and a new face as strongly indicated by the findings of the various consecutive independent research reports. Some painfully re-echoing the foreboding of the shelved Kwesi Botchwey Report.

The NDC Grassroots should reject any candidate who does not increase the NDC's chances of victory, but rather re-echoes the known electoral risks and negative baggage capable of once again causing the ultimate, power to slip through the hands of the NDC and its justifiably expectant and optimistic grassroots one more painful time!

NDC's victory in 2024 depends on whether you as NDC delegates will vote a different candidate this time in fulfilment of the conditions precedent and in line with all the predictions for an NDC victory in 2024!

The power to win power is in your vote on 13th May! Vote for the right leader at the right time for victory 2024!
