Rise of the Literate

Rise of the Literate
28.05.2021 LISTEN

How much more do we have to fail as the educated class of the country? The country has spent billions in educating her people yet she falls far behind development. Is it because of inferiority in our educational system or that we are not motivated enough to commit ourselves to the betterment of this nation? Others will argue that our educational system is of sub-standard and does not produce the quality human resource needed to build a nation, but I can confidently tell you today that if you have a degree or admitted in a tertiary then you’ve been well setup to fix this country.

The schooling you’ve had so far is enough to grow from, what is left is for you to educate yourself on the knowledge needed to build a nation. If you can read and write then the job of our educational system is done. Reading and writing are the most important skills you need as a literate, with these two skills you can access any knowledge that you think is necessary to fulfill the cause of national development.

When we talk about how our leaders are failing in their responsibilities then we should take the time to think about what we as literates of the nations, with thousands of cedis spent to educate each and every one of us by taxing the “Kayaye” and the investments made in us by our families, what have to give back to the development of the nation and the poor “Kayaye” at least a better living condition?

There was a time that we were the hope of the people, they looked to us as the future leaders, as the one to provide for them a quality health care, but now they don’t. They see our education as a skill acquisition course, they believe we go to school to get jobs and have a better life. The hope that they had in us is gone because we have proven it to be a delusion and even worse is we joining them to wait for a solution.

Consistently the graduate of this nation has killed the confidence and hope of the people in us but it’s not yet over, the time has come for us to be the solution they seek. We were not asking the right question but now we will, we were not running the right cause but now we will, not enough has been sacrificed but our generation of literates will sacrifice all to develop this nation because we can do it.

There has never been a better time for it to be possible than now, technology has made it possible to access knowledge that is needed for nation building from across the world so we should build our country and we will.

We are not proud of the leaders we have and the ones we’ve had, yet we remain dormant waiting for a miracle to happen. The miracle has already happened, your education, your reading and writing skill is the miracle. The messiah you seek has already sent the Holy Spirit, the skill is in you to grow and apply yourself. Until the young literate decides that his nation be built by him, it will forever remain undeveloped and under the control of men who takes pride in the position they hold but performs no responsibility as it is demanded of them.
