Ghanaian rap heavyweight Sarkodie delivered a night of music, nostalgia and high-energy performances as he headlined MoMoFest x Rapperholic ’26: Kumasi Invasion at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

The concert, supported by MTN Mobile Money, attracted music lovers who gathered to celebrate Sarkodie’s career, his enduring connection with fans and Kumasi’s growing influence as a hub for major entertainment events.

The night featured performances from several Ghanaian artistes, stage collaborations and a special tribute to late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, adding an emotional touch to an otherwise vibrant celebration.

Sarkodie deepens connection with Kumasi

The event further demonstrated the strong relationship between Sarkodie and his supporters in the Ashanti Region, where his music continues to enjoy significant popularity.

The massive turnout surrounding the concert underscored the strength of Sarkodie’s brand and the continued appeal of the Rapperholic concept, which has become one of Ghana’s recognised concert platforms since its launch in December 2012.

Rapperholic has over the years brought together music lovers and artistes for performances and collaborations, with the 2026 edition marking the second consecutive year the concert has been held in Kumasi.

It followed last year’s Rapperholic: The Homecoming, which also featured Sarkodie’s mentor, Obrafour, and Shatta Wale.

Ahead of this year’s event, Sarkodie expressed his appreciation to the people of the Ashanti Region, declaring, "Kumasi, this is your own."

He also highlighted the scale of the 2026 production, saying, "Kumasi showed Sarkodie love, and this year we have gone way bigger."

King Promise joins Sarkodie on stage
The concert also showcased the talents of other Ghanaian performers, including Kojoblak and Oseikanii, who entertained patrons during the event.

A major highlight came when award-winning singer King Promise joined Sarkodie on stage, creating an energetic moment that thrilled fans at the stadium.

Their appearance formed part of a broader line-up designed to celebrate Ghanaian music while giving other artistes an opportunity to connect with a large audience.

Sarkodie remembers Daddy Lumba
The celebratory atmosphere was briefly given a reflective dimension when Sarkodie paid tribute to the late Daddy Lumba.

The tribute recognised the contribution of the highlife legend to Ghana’s music industry and his enduring influence on generations of musicians and music lovers.

Honouring Daddy Lumba during the concert also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the pioneers whose creativity helped establish the foundation upon which Ghana’s contemporary music industry continues to grow. The partnership between MoMoFest and Rapperholic also highlighted the growing relationship between Ghana’s entertainment industry and digital financial services.

MTN Mobile Money supported the concert, with promotional materials indicating that patrons could purchase tickets by dialling 714666# through MTN MoMo.

The collaboration demonstrated how corporate sponsorship and digital payment platforms can facilitate large-scale entertainment events while creating opportunities for artistes, organisers, businesses and fans.

Events of this scale also have the potential to generate economic activity for vendors, transport operators, hospitality businesses and other service providers in Kumasi.

Kumasi cements its entertainment credentials

The latest Rapperholic edition further strengthened Kumasi’s position as an important destination for Ghana’s entertainment industry.

Last year’s Rapperholic: The Homecoming also attracted significant attention, with patrons continuing to dance despite rainfall during the event.

Sarkodie’s engagement with Kumasi has also extended beyond his musical performances.

Ahead of the concert, he was reportedly named an ambassador of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) during a courtesy visit to Vice-Chancellor Professor Christian Agyare.

The engagements reflect the growing opportunities for major Ghanaian artistes to connect with educational institutions, young people and communities beyond the stage.

A celebration beyond Sarkodie
While Sarkodie remained the central figure of the night, the success of MoMoFest x Rapperholic ’26 also reflected the collective efforts behind Ghana’s entertainment industry.

Supporting artistes, event organisers, production crews, sponsors, promoters and media professionals all contribute to creating and sustaining major entertainment events.

Media houses, journalists, presenters, entertainment pundits, bloggers and content creators also play an important role in generating public interest, providing coverage and taking such events to audiences beyond the venue.

At the centre of it all were the fans, whose loyalty has helped sustain the Rapperholic brand and strengthen Sarkodie’s relationship with his audience over the years.

Another chapter in Sarkodie’s Rapperholic journey

MoMoFest x Rapperholic ’26: Kumasi Invasion added another chapter to Sarkodie’s long-running Rapperholic story while reinforcing Kumasi’s relevance to Ghana’s entertainment scene.

The headline performance, appearances by supporting artistes, King Promise’s stage collaboration and the tribute to Daddy Lumba provided some of the night’s notable moments.

For Sarkodie and the Rapperholic team, the concert represented another opportunity to build on a music brand that has endured since 2012.

For the supporting artistes, it offered a platform to connect with a wider audience, while for Kumasi, it was another reminder of the city’s capacity to host major entertainment events.

MoMoFest x Rapperholic ’26 ultimately brought together Sarkodie, fellow artistes, corporate partners and thousands of music lovers in a celebration of Ghanaian music and the culture surrounding it.

Kumasi showed up, Ghana celebrated, and the music spoke for itself.
