Obuasi SHS headmaster case: “It is better to pay for sex with prostitute than rape someone” – Prophet Kumchacha

Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has sparked discussion following his comments on the ongoing sexual abuse allegations involving the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS).

Speaking on United Showbiz, the outspoken preacher argued that paying for sex with a sex worker is preferable to raping someone, stressing that sexual assault can lead to serious consequences.

According to Kumchacha, engaging in consensual sexual activity with a sex worker avoids the harm and complications associated with forcing someone into a sexual encounter. He further suggested that rape could bring unnecessary stress and legal troubles.

His comments come amid growing public concern over allegations of sexual misconduct against Zakaria Abdulai, the interdicted headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti Region.

The case has attracted national attention following reports that a female student accused the headmaster of raping her at his official residence on the school compound.

According to a police statement, the 20-year-old Form Two student, accompanied by her father, reported the incident to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Obuasi on August 4, 2026.

She alleged that the incident occurred on July 25, 2026, after the headmaster allegedly lured her into his residence under the pretext of running an errand. She further claimed that he sexually assaulted her against her will and subsequently gave her GH¢100 to keep the incident secret.

Police said investigations included a medical examination, reconstruction of the scene, photographs and witness statements. The case docket was subsequently forwarded to the Attorney-General's Office for study and advice.

The Ghana Education Service has also interdicted Abdulai pending further investigations, while Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka confirmed that the headmaster had been arrested in connection with the allegations.
