Sista Afia laments how colleague musicians turned down her feature requests

Ghanaian singer and songwriter Sista Afia, born Francisca Gawugah, has expressed amusement and apparent frustration over what she says is the difficulty she is currently facing in getting some of her colleagues to feature on her projects.

The “Jeje” and “Weather” hitmaker shared her thoughts on X under her social media name @sista_afia, saying she has been reaching out to some colleagues for features but has been given different reasons they cannot participate.

“It’s actually funny how I’m calling some of my colleagues for features these days and almost everyone is suddenly busy giving me reasons why they ‘don’t want to do it.’ 😂😂 Crazy Times!!!!”

Although Sista Afia did not name the musicians involved or disclose the specific reasons they gave her, her post has sparked curiosity among fans about the circumstances behind the alleged refusals.

Sista Afia has been an active figure in Ghana’s music industry for more than a decade. She returned to Ghana from the United Kingdom in 2015 to pursue music and gained wider recognition through songs including “Jeje,” “Kro Kro No,” “Slay Queen” and “Weather.”

The award-winning musician has also collaborated with several established Ghanaian artistes throughout her career. In 2025, she publicly advocated for greater collaboration among musicians, arguing that artistes could achieve more by coming together for projects that positively impact society.
