President John Mahama is expected to perform a groundbreaking ceremony for work to begin on the construction of a sports stadium project in the Bono Region.
According to Mr Senior Kwame Kusi, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority, the president was expected to arrive in Sunyani for the event in early October 2026.
In an interview with the media in Sunyani, he said the government had secured 35-acre land at Old Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality for the 40,000-seater capacity project.
“The project is a FIFA standard facility that will contain all sporting disciplines”, Mr Kusi stated, saying that the project was expected to be completed by 2029, adding that the Sunyani Coronation Park would also be reshaped and maintained as well.
