WN/R: Residents raise concern over abandoned truck on Benchemaa-Oseikojokrom highway  

Residents of Benchemaa Barrier, Nkatieso and Benchemaa in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region, have raised concern over an abandoned truck posing safety risk on the Benchemaa Barrier-Oseikojokrom highway.

Some of the residents who spoke with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview said the truck had been abandoned on that stretch for more than a year with no information about the driver or owner, raising concerns over the safety of users of the road.

Mr Kwame Nkuah, a resident, told the GNA that the location of the abandoned vehicle was dangerous and could cause an accident, and appealed to the appropriate authorities to see to its removal to avert any possible road crash.

Some tricycle riders who spoke to the GNA also expressed concerns over the neglect of the truck on the road and called on the police to take steps and remove it.

Mr Samuel Agyekum, the Assembly Member for the Sayerano Electoral Area, said he had raised the issue during assembly meetings and that they were in the process of looking for the owner to remove it because there was no towing service in the area.

He said he had personally informed the Asawinso District Police Command and was hoping they would come in to support to prevent any accident.
