Ghanaian content creator Kwadwo Sheldon has taken a jab at the CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, after he announced a new programme to equip 2,000 young Ghanaians with digital skills.
Basintale had stated that the initiative, launched in partnership with Ghana Digital Centres Limited, would train youth in high‑demand areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity and data analytics.
But Sheldon was unimpressed.
Reposting a Citi FM video of Basintale announcing the programme, Sheldon wrote on X: “This guy he no Dey taya creating imaginary jobs? Hoh.”
His comment reflects growing frustration among sections of Ghana’s youth, many of whom say the YEA has not delivered meaningful job opportunities despite repeated announcements of new programmes.
Basintale is facing increasing criticism from youth groups and political commentators who argue that unemployment continues to rise while the agency’s interventions remain largely theoretical.
With joblessness still a major concern nationwide, pressure is mounting on the YEA to produce measurable, visible results in job creation, skills training and entrepreneurship support.
