A young man from Kalabo District in Zambia's Western Province, identified as Vernon Chitoti, has died in a suspected suicide, according to local reports.
The incident has left residents of the community in shock, coming just two weeks after Mr. Chitoti reportedly became engaged to his fiancée.
Preliminary information circulating on social media suggests that the deceased may have been emotionally distressed after the engagement allegedly ended and his fiancée reportedly reconciled with a former partner. However, these claims have not been independently verified, and authorities have not confirmed whether they were connected to his death.
At the time of publication, the police had not released an official statement detailing the circumstances surrounding the incident or the outcome of any investigations.
